We all know James Bond Casino Royale. It is a very entertaining movie released in 2006. However, only a few people know that there is also an older version of the movie from 1967. In black and white. Each fan of HellSpin should try it.

The British secret service is having a hard time. The evil Smersh has devised a terrible plan to end world peace and balance. Eleven agents of the secret punk have disappeared. But the most frightening thing is that the most important agent, 007 James Bond, has also disappeared, enjoying his retirement. M, who meets with the most important agents of the CIA, will try to convince James Bond to come back and destroy the famous agent Smersh.

Undoubtedly the most charismatic and mysterious agent in the history of cinema, James Bond’s first Casino Royale film features a cast of interesting names such as Orson Welles, Peter Sellers, Woody Allen and John Huston.

When watching the 2006 version it becomes clear that there were several different locations used to record James Bond Casino Royale. Here are the most special ones.

Venice and Lake Como: picturesque James Bond filming locations from “Casino Royale”.

Did you also think during the scenes in which Bond (still weakened from the torture) sits in a wheelchair and looks at a dreamlike lake and mountain landscape: I would like to take a vacation there and relax!

To do this, you simply have to travel to the north of Italy, because one of the absolutely most beautiful filming locations of James Bond’s “Casino Royale” is located on Lake Como: Villa del Balbianello with its idyllic garden and the unique view of the lake and the surrounding mountains has often appeared in films. For example, it has already been the filming location of Star Wars, Episode II – Attack of the Clones.

You can visit the villa as part of a short vacation on Lake Como (which is definitely worth it!) for an entrance fee of currently 8 € and enjoy the panorama from the garden like Bond. Guided tours are also offered, but you need to book in advance.

But there is another villa that was used as a backdrop, Villa Gaeta, which is just as idyllic on the lake. In the film, it represents the house of Mr. White. Best of all, you can even rent one of the apartments in the villa! It consists of a 2-room apartment and currently costs €1,065 for a week.

Finally, another James Bond filming location for “Casino Royale” is the lagoon city of Venice. You can see two of Venice’s most important sights in the film: St. Mark’s Square and the Grand Canal. Only the palazzo where Bond tries to save Vesper’s life was recreated at Pinewood Studios in England.

Not only was the Venetian palazzo artificially recreated for the film shoot and sank into the waters of the canal with the help of special effects, but several other scenes were also shot at Pinewood Studios near London as well as Black Park, Iver Heath west of the British capital.

Unfortunately, however, the studios are not open to visitors – Black Park is. You can reach the park from London by rental car in just under 50 minutes and can stroll through the woodland here between 8 a.m. and – depending on the time of year – until 8 p.m., picnicking and watching small motor boats on the lake.
